EMSS Xenograft Services

Investigators within and outside of the University of Arizona have access to a vast collection of clinically relevant human and murine tumor models with an emphasis on the severe combined immune deficiency (SCID) mouse tumor models. The EMSS team provides technical and scientific expertise to investigators so that the most appropriate study design and screening method for an investigational therapy is utilized, which allows cancer therapies to be developed efficiently and cost effectively. Studies can be designed in order to identify leads, optimize dose schedules and combination strategies, or optimize clinical trial strategies. The EMSS works closely with the Therapeutic Development Program group at the AZCC, which correlates to an experiment designed to be clinically relevant and eases the transition to Phase I clinical trials at the AZCC.

While a study is ongoing updates are provided to investigators weekly via e-mail. Once the experiment is completed, a final report is written in a format easily adaptable for submission to most scientific journals. Reports include abstract, introduction, methods, results with tables, graphs, and statistical analyses, and discussion sections.
